'AS LIVE' PRODUCTION: Research into the Final Segments

We let everyone decide what segments they wanted to research into and so far, the research which has been uploaded to our group Google Docs is looking really good.

While everyone was researching into their segments, I did a bit of research myself. I looked into Steals of the Season because this one will need a lot of researching into to find out what the trends will be in summer 2018 and possibly 2019. I looked at different websites for their Spring / Summer 18 predictions for both men and women and then put together the same trends that we said on a number of websites:

Womens

Who, What, Wear
- bright - vibrant pinks, reds, yellows and more worn in either monochrome blocks or colours worn together
- bold
- trench coats
- trainers - socks and velcro
- trouser suits
- pencil skirts - this time around they are longer-lined making them more flattering
big shoulders and sleeves (spring) - soft blouses and shirts so they can be counterbalanced with a miniskirt
- summer plaid - checks aren't just for winter
- polka dots - keep it monochrome and keep it in cool, modern shapes
- vintage florals - tea dresses
- pastels - lemon, lilac, purple, mint and beige
- yellow dresses

Next year is trouser suit and flat-shoe heaven



Cosmo
- sheer clothing
- bike shorts
- day glow disco - sparkles and sequins
- bumbags




Marie Claire
feathers
fringing
- palm beach glamour - two piece teamed with glittery gloves and a pile of necklaces
- power shorts / short suits (summer) - tailored and finishing at the knee
- sports wear- a shell suit jacket and wear with something sexy on the bottom / or team the new sporty ‘dad trainers’ with a summer dress
- bumbags
- OTT earrings (even bigger for summer)
- puffy sleeves

Vogue
pastels

Mens

GP Magazine
the 80s - pastel colours, boxy suit jackets and light wash jeans - pair with current trends to keep the outfits fresh
- all white - if not swap out the top layer for an indigo denim jacket or light tailored navy blazer. Black or brown leather smart sandals or penny loafers
- moving into the 90s look? baggy cargo trousers, matching indigo double denim, long belts that grazed the thigh and sweater-vests (this trend getting bigger going into the summer)
pink - blush, pastel (millennial pink)
- vertical stripe suit - flattering on all body shapes and sizes
- double break pocket jacket - safari jackets, field jackets and seventies-style military shirts



Vogue
suits - bright colours (crayola-box colour)
- velvet and satin
- Hawaiian shirts
- small belts
- romper (“RompHim”)
- the ‘rad dad’ look - thin blazers and jumpers, casual tops and jeans
- tiny shorts - stranger and shorter, the better
- skirts
- branding - (spring) branded strips along suiting and accessories
- wide trousers

- all white - if not, navy blue t-shirt - pair with black or brown loafers or sandals
- pink - millennial pink / warm, blush tones - will expand with bright fuchsia to soft pastels
- vertical stripes
- sportswear - zip up turtlenecks
- pattern mixing - quirkier the better



The Dolls Factory
floral prints - vintage colouring such as deep reds and blues paired with silky creams and whites
- baggy, high waisted trousers - paired with button downs or turtlenecks that consisted of plaid and striped patterns
- plein sport - grey, white and black as dominant colours, bold accents or red, green and gold
- skinny belts
- oversized tailored fashion - blue and pink pastels, as well as warm reds and yellows, stand out against the subtle black, white and grey pieces

Now we can see what the most common trends will be for summer then we have an idea in what sort of clothing we might want to feature in our programme.
