Del Brown is a director / vision mixer who will be helping us create our programme with his professional experience.Today was mainly about getting the structure of the show down on paper with Del's help as we have only been researching for the content and had no structure. It was very helpful having Del and everyone involved with the show in the room because we had Del to steer us in the right direction and we had everyone to say their ideas and opinions to help make a show that everyone would want to work on.
Rehearsals & TX (transmission) day
February - 13th, 27th,
March - 6th, 13th (R), 20th (R),
April - 10th (R), 17th, 18th, 19th (TX)
Brainstorm of ideas for how the show will go:
- establishing shot - to show audience whole set
- schedule a day for presenters to come in for on camera to see what they're like - Jack
- onscreen graphics
- music while models are on screen?
- guest / presenter go up to the model when talking about the clothes
- bright / light set
- graphic of tagline for summer fashion?
- presenters must get along, find a double act
- maybe have a model in the studio, then we cut to VT with a summary of clothing??
- start show with a VT - here we've got this coming up in the show - teaser
- times of what time things are coming up - like This Morning
- moving the set - have a catwalk
- shoulder camera following model on catwalk
- maybe have audience on camera in the set - a small audience - better for fashion fails segment
- boom pole in audience - sound assistant
- trunk and a box - brings out clothing - has anyone worn this??
After a long day of giving out ideas and planning our structure / running order, we finally decided on a structure and set design, which can be tweaked later on but the basics will stay the same.

Current running order
While we were putting the structure together, Jemma our production manager worked out the timings for each set of titles, greetings, introductions, VTs, segments and goodbyes - this creates the running order. This running order follows with the current structure above (some bits are still needed to be added / tbc):
Set design
We also put together a final set plan, we are able to tweak things as long as we keep the basics of the set the same e.g. we can't move the catwalk to the other side. We are all very happy with this set design and are waiting to get a hold of the set design team at Rochester to find out if they're on board with creating the set to our programme.
I created a basic, virtual set based on our final decisions:
We are all very happy with this structure and are ready to research more into the final segments.
After we sorted the structure, running order and set design, we went down into the studios and Del introduced us to the gallery, sound and lighting rooms and explained what each person who is based in the gallery will be doing in there. On the TX day, as producers Katie and I will not have much to do. Our work and stress all happens in the preproduction stage and it should all run smoothly on the day. I am looking forward to that day to see our idea finally as an actual programme with real guests, presenters and an audience.
Our next task is to allocate research to different groups of people, especially for the Old to New segment, we still want to include music influences and a vintage part somewhere so that can be researched into more also.
We have a production meeting scheduled for Monday (12th Feb) which is where we will come back with everyone and hear their ideas for more content - ready to tell Del on the Tuesday (13th).
