'AS LIVE' PRODUCTION: Studio Location Recce & Risk Assessment

Studio 2
We had the chance to go down into studio 2 where we would be filming the production. This was so we could have a look at the studio and to think about how our shows would fit. Katie and myself agreed to definitely have the set placed at one of the ends, either at the end by the gallery or the other end by the hydraulic door, rather than at the side. This is because it would be easier to fit the set, cameras and audience down the length of the studio, and we will still have a good size around the back of the set and audience for the fire routes. If we were to place the set at the side, it is narrower, therefore it will be tighter to fit the set, cameras and audience in, with a fire route around the back.

Studio risk assessment
Risks
- There aren't many risks associated with working in the studio until the set and equipment is up
- Trip hazard from wires attached to the equipment
- Our set or equipment may be in the way of fire doors in the studio
- Risk of people walking underneath when the lighting is being rigged

Control methods
- We will ensure the equipment is out the way or well seen, the wires will also be taped to the ground, preventing the risk of tripping.
- All cast and crew will be made aware of the wires and equipment
- We will make sure no equipment or set is in the way of fire doors
- No one should be in the studio walking around while the lighting is being rigged
