The 'selection' tool can simply let us select different clips of footage and audio and move them where we want. The 'ripple' tool lets us move an edit point which moves the rest of the timeline to the same time to make up for it. The 'slip' tool rolls the footage backwards and forwards and with this we can change the timing but keeping the timeline the same length. Finally the 'slide' tool lets me move a clip to later on in the timeline.
