My tutorial with Simon consisted of talking about me being the editor in this mockumentary and what I should be research into to create a successful outcome.
- Look at mockumentary editing - Spinal Tap - started the mock genre - before this, the genre didn't exist - influential for Ricky Gervais
- Look at workflow of an editor - cut process is, how to label up trim bins - how to assemble cut rough cut and fine cut, professional workflow not just creative side
- Doing this research now for transition will help in third year
- Look at editors - not just mocks - see if theres a cross over between drama editors and documentary editors
- Look at editing of comedic moments
- Laurel and Hardy - black and white - creative control over the films as well as being in it - looks at the camera breaking the forth wall, how you edit comedy, trace it back to interesting things to look at
- Researching in relation to what we want to do, comedy editing
- Break down the editing - editing template
- "Look at editing within a mockumentary" - break down learning objective with role & output
